TITLE
Recommendation to increase the FY 20 appropriations in the General Fund Group in the Parks, Recreation and Marine Department by $30,000, offset by the First Council District One-time District Priority Funds transferred from the Capital Projects Fund Group in the Public Works Department to support the K-9 Dog Park.
DISCUSSION
On June 6, 2019, the City Council approved $55,000 of First Council District One-time District Funds to support the creation of angled parking and infrastructure improvements in the North Pine neighborhood. These funds were transferred to the Capital Projects Fund Group in the Public Works Department.
The First Council District would like to repurpose $30,000 of this funding to support the Parks, Recreation and Marine Department’s K-9 Dog Park project. The K-9 Dog Park is located in the First Council District at 906 Pacific Avenue. The grand re-opening of the park was held on January 9, 2020.
This matter was reviewed by Budget Manager Grace H. Yoon on September 22, 2020.
FISCAL IMPACT
This recommendation reallocates $30,000 of Council District Priority Funds originally allocated to the Capital Projects Fund to support the Parks, Recreation and Marine Department’s K-9 Dog Park Project, which is in the First Council District. The total FY 20 appropriation increase in the General Fund Group in the Parks, Recreation and Marine Department by $30,000 will be offset by a transfer of funds from the Capital Projects Fund Group in the Public Works Department. Implementing this recommendation is anticipated to result in a minimal impact on staff hours beyond normal budgeted scope of duties and is expected to have a minimal impact on existing City Council priorities.
SUGGESTED ACTION
