TITLE
Recommendation to increase appropriations in the Special Advertising and Promotion Fund Group in the City Manager Department by $20,000, offset by community sponsorships for the Uptown Jazz Fest in the amount $15,000 from Bridge Development Partners, LLC, and $5,000 from the Port of Long Beach.
DISCUSSION
Bridge Development Partners, LLC is making a $15,000 contribution, and the Port of Long Beach is giving $5,000 to support the production of the Virtual Uptown Jazz Fest.
The City Manager's Office of Special Events and Filming is organizing the Virtual Ninth Annual Uptown Jazz Fest on behalf of Council District 9 on September 27, 2020. The Uptown Jazz Fest is traditionally held in the summer, as Houghton Park is filled with vendors, local artists, Long Beach residents and attendees from across the Southern California region.
This virtual festival will uplift and celebrate community while we are apart, and will furthermore, support local musicians who have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The approval of this recommendation is urgent due to the need for staff to coordinate the upcoming event in a timely manner.
