TITLE
Recommendation to receive and file a presentation from the Los Angeles Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk relative to the November 3, 2020 General Municipal Election. (Citywide)

DISCUSSION
On April 14, 2020, the City Council approved Resolution No. RES-20-0042 ordering, proclaiming, calling, giving and notice of and providing for the holding of a General Municipal Election to be held in the City of Long Beach.

Pursuant to the City Charter and Long Beach Municipal Code, on November 3, 2020, the City of Long Beach electorate will vote on Members of the City Council for Districts 2, 6, and 8 and Long Beach Unified School District Governing Board Member from District 2. The General Municipal Election will be held on November 3, 2020, in alignment with the Statewide General Election, and elected candidates will assume office the third Tuesday in December.

In accordance with Executive Order N-64-20, all registered voters will be mailed a Vote by Mail ballot to ensure they have a safe and accessible voting option during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Los Angeles Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk also will expand the number of drop-off locations throughout the county so voters have additional methods to return their completed ballots. Completed ballots can be returned by mail (no postage required) or in-person at any Vote Center.

The Office of the City Clerk will continue to work and communicate all changes to the City Council and voters and is committed to continuing offering the highest level of customer service to the diverse communities in the City of Long Beach.

This matter was reviewed by Deputy Attorney Amy Webber on September 2, 2020 and by Budget Management Officer Rhutu Amin Gharib on September 2, 2020.
