TITLE

Recommendation to authorize City Attorney to pay sum of $155,000 in full settlement of lawsuit entitled Marquez, et al. v City of Long Beach, Los Angeles County Superior Court Case No. BC623334.

DISCUSSION

Plaintiff alleges the City was not paying approximately 225 City employees minimum wage as required by the new State minimum wage law.

Following extensive negotiations, plaintiff agreed to accept $155,000 in attorneys' fees as a full, global settlement of this case.

This settlement was discussed in closed session, and approved by the Economic Development and Finance Committee on March 17, 2020.

SUGGESTED ACTION

Approve recommendation.
