TITLE
Recommendation to increase appropriations in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department by $1,500, offset by the Second Council District One-Time District Priority funds transferred from the Citywide Activities Department to provide a donation to Beacon for Him Ministries for the annual It's A Drag to Give event that took place on December 13, 2019; and
Decrease appropriations in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department by $1,500 to offset a transfer to City Manager Department.
DISCUSSION
On December 13, 2019, Beacon for Him Ministries, in partnership with It's a Drag to Give, hosted their 5th Anniversary Fundraising Gala. It's A Drag to Give is an annual fund raiser event that brings together over 600 attendees every year. This annual event has benefitted multiple nonprofit organizations around the city through donations of jackets, toys, and other needs. Those organizations include but are not limited to Mental Health America, Women Shelter of Long Beach and the LGBTQ Center Long Beach.
Beacon for Him Ministries aides displaced men, women and children by providing meals, food bank distribution, refuge recovery and many other additional resources.

FISCAL IMPACT
This recommendation provides funds for the City Manager Department to provide a donation to Beacon for Him Ministries for the annual It's A Drag to Give event. The total appropriation increase in the General Fund Group by $1,500 is offset by a decrease of appropriation of the Second Council District General Fund Group One-Time District Priority Funds in the Citywide Activities Department.
