TITLE

Recommendation to increase appropriations in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department by $1,200, offset by the First Council District One-time District Priority Funds transferred from the Citywide Activities Department to provide a contribution to Latinos in Action California; and

 

Decrease appropriations in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department by $1,200 to offset a transfer to the City Manager Department.

 

DISCUSSION

On March 21, 2020, Latinos in Action California will host the annual Latina Conference at Long Beach Memorial Hospital. This event will provide residents in the First District, Long Beach, and areas surrounding the opportunity to learn about services provided by the Los Angeles County Health Department of Mental Health, Mental Health Connection and many other community based organizations in the mental health industry.

 

Latinos In Action California works to support and enhance the lives of all in the areas of health, education and safety. Latinos in action provide academic -enrichment and leadership development programs to help strong families become actively engaged in their communities.

 

This matter was reviewed by Budget Manager Grace H. Yoon on March 2, 2020.

 

FISCAL IMPACT

This recommendation requests the City Manager to provide a contribution Latinos in Action. The total appropriation increase in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department by $1 ,200 will be offset by a decrease of appropriation of the First Council District General Fund Group one-time District Priority Funds in the Citywide Activities Department. The requested action is anticipated to require a minimal level of staff hours beyond the budgeted scope of duties and is expected to have minimal impact on existing City Council priorities.
