TITLE

Recommendation to increase appropriations in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department by $375, offset by the First Council District one-time District Priority Funds transferred from the Citywide Activities Department to provide a donation to Beacon for Him Ministries through the annual It's a Drag to Give Fundraiser Gala that happened on December 13, 2019; and

Decrease appropriations in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department by $375 to offset a transfer to the City Manager Department.

DISCUSSION

On December 13, 2019 Beacon for Him Ministries, in partnership with It's a Drag to Give hosted their 5th Anniversary Fundraising Gala. At this event, funds were raised for Beacon for Him through ticket sales and sponsorship opportunities.

Beacon for Him Ministries, which is located in the First District, aides displaced men, women and children by providing meals, food bank distribution, refuge recovery and many other additional resources.

This matter was reviewed by Budget Manager Grace H. Yoon on March 2, 2020.

FISCAL IMPACT

This recommendation requests the City Manager to provide a contribution to Beacon for Him Ministries in association with It's a Drag to Give. The total appropriation increase in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department by $375 is offset by a decrease of appropriation of the First Council District General Fund Group One-time District Priority Funds in the Citywide Activities Department. The requested action is anticipated to require a minimal level of staff hours beyond the budgeted scope of duties and is expected to have minimal impact on existing City Council priorities.

SUGGESTED ACTION

Approve recommendation.

Respectfully Submitted,

MARY ZENDEJAS

COUNCILWOMAN, FIRST DISTRICT
