DISCUSSION
Cambodian community organizations have been holding Cambodian New Year celebrations in Long Beach on and off since 1992. This year, Cambodia Town, Inc. is working to bring the Cambodian New Year Parade back to Anaheim Street after a short hiatus. The purpose of the parade is to showcase both the richness of Cambodian culture and the diversity of Cambodia Town. The 12th Annual Cambodia Town Parade and Culture Festival will take place on Sunday, April 5th, 2020.

As part of the FY 20 Adopted Budget, the City Council allocated $235,000 of Special Advertising and Promotions Fund Group funds available to be divided equally between the City Council Districts to be used towards SAP-qualified special events or contributions, managed by the Office of Special Events and Filming in the City Manager Department. This recommendation is requesting that $5,000 of the Fourth Council District one-time SAP District Priority Funds and $20,000 of the Sixth Council District one-time SAP District Priority Funds be allocated for this special event.

This matter has been reviewed by Grace H. Yoon on February 13, 2020.
