DISCUSSION
City Council approval is requested to enter into a contract with General Consolidated Constructors, Inc., to provide construction services for the Junipero and Granada Beach Concession Renovations and Site Improvements Project (Project).

The existing Junipero Beach Concession Building located at 2630 E. Ocean Boulevard and Granada Beach Concession Building located at 5098 E. Ocean Boulevard (Attachment A) serve visitors of the City of Long Beach’s (City) waterfront and are located on the beach adjacent to the bike and pedestrian paths. To activate the space and provide unique destination features, both facilities are receiving improvements. Both concession buildings will receive façade improvements, new shade structures over the seating areas, improved connection to the bike and pedestrian paths, new retail areas, and enhanced wayfinding signage. Adjacent to the Junipero Beach Concession, a large destination playground will be installed. Adjacent to the Granada Beach Concession, a fitness station, dog rinse station, and an interactive water play feature will be installed.

Although there are two separate specification numbers and locations associated with the Project, it was bid as a single project. The bid was advertised in the Long Beach Press-Telegram on October 2, 2019, and 4,924 potential bidders specializing in construction services were notified of the bid opportunity.
