TITLE

Recommendation to receive and file a presentation from the CSULB College of Health and Human Services, School of Recreation and Leisure Studies on a sustainable tourism development plan for the City of Long Beach.

DISCUSSION

The School of Recreation and Leisure Studies offers a sustainable tourism planning and development course, a project-based class where students learn how to develop a community-based tourism plan. Students work closely with community stakeholders to identify tourism goals for the city, conduct a tourism audit, and create a sustainable development plan that works best for each council district.

This presentation will focus on the highlights of each council district's tourism areas as well as a sustainable development plan that can increase tourism within those districts.
