TITLE

Recommendation to authorize City Manager, or designee, to execute all necessary documents to amend interim Munis Contract No. 31900241 with GRP2 Uniforms, Inc., dba Keystone Uniforms, of Santa Ana, CA, to furnish and deliver uniforms to the Long Beach Police Department, to increase the contract amount by $150,000, for a revised total amount not to exceed $250,000, and extend the term of the contract to May 1, 2020.  (Citywide)

DISCUSSION

City Council approval is requested to increase interim Munis Contract No. 31900241 with Keystone Uniforms (Keystone) by $150,000, for a revised total amount not to exceed $250,000, and to extend the contract term to May 1, 2020, to continue purchasing as-needed uniforms. The extension will provide adequate time for City of Long Beach (City) staff to complete the competitive bid process and transition to a new contract.

The City’s contract with Keystone expired on June 1, 2019. To ensure continuity of service, an interim contract in the amount of $100,000 was issued pursuant to the City’s purchasing guidelines. The authorized amount, under the same terms and conditions as the prior contract, will soon be exhausted.

This matter was reviewed by Deputy City Attorney Sarah E. Green on October 17, 2019, Purchasing Agent Tara Yeats on October 23, 2019, and by Budget Management Officer Rhutu Amin Gharib on November 1, 2019.

TIMING CONSIDERATIONS

City Council action is requested on December 3, 2019, to ensure the agreement is in place expeditiously.

FISCAL IMPACT

The recommended action increases the interim contract by $150,000, for a revised total amount not to exceed $250,000 for the period ending May 1, 2020. The additional contract authority of $150,000 will be absorbed in the General Fund Group, Tidelands Operating Fund Group, and Tidelands Area Fund Group in the Long Beach Police Department. This recommendation has no staffing impact beyond the normal budgeted scope of duties and is consistent with existing City Council priorities. There is no local job impact associated with this recommendation.

SUGGESTED ACTION

Approve recommendation.
