TITLE
Recommendation to increase appropriations in the Special Advertising and Promotion Fund Group in the City Manager Department by $552.50, offset by the Sixth Council District one-time District Priority Funds transferred from the Citywide Activities Department to provide a contribution to California Families in Focus a non-profit organization, for support of their Gran Bailaton event, which is an exercise program being hosted in the Sixth District; and
Decrease appropriations in the Special Advertising and Promotion Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department by $552.50 to offset a transfer to the City Manager Department.
DISCUSSION
On Friday, November 8, 2019, California Families in Focus will host a mass Zumba exercise event in the Sixth District in meemory of late Long Beach Police Department Detective Kimberly Maddox. Each year, this organization hosts an event in Detective Maddox' honor and this year, it is going to take place at McBride Park, in the heart of Central Long Beach.
California Families in Focus is a Long Beach non-profit organization with a mission to develop and provide positive and innovative events and social service programs for youth and their families to achieve empowerment and purpose. Their vision is to inspire the community to become proactive in achieving their educational, professional, and personal goals and to create a thriving environment where youth and their families can live healthy and happy lives.
STATEMENT OF URGENCY:
Given that this event is scheduled to occur in the upcoming days, approval of this recommendation is needed to ensure a timely contribution to California Families in Focus.
FISCAL IMPACT
