TITLE
Recommendation to increase appropriations in the Special Advertising and Promotion Fund Group in the City Manager Department by $500, offset by the Sixth Council District one-time District Priority Funds transferred from the Citywide Activities Department to provide a contribution to Jack and Jill of America, Incorporated, Long Beach Chapter for their Far West Region Southern Area Work Day Conference reception; and
Decrease appropriations in the Special Advertising and Promotion Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department by $500 to offset a transfer to the City Manager Department.
DISCUSSION
On Friday, October 25 and Saturday, October 26, 2019, the Long Beach Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Incorporated hosted the Far West Region Southern Area Work Day conference at the Long Beach Hilton with over 300 registrants from the Long Beach community.
Jack and Jill of America, Incorporated is a national organization of mothers with children between the ages of 2 - 19. Their mission indicates their dedication to nurturing future African-American leaders by strengthening children through leadership development, volunteer service, philanthropic giving and civic duty. The conference concluded with a reception that brought together community leaders, youth, and provided networking and mentorship opportunities for our Long Beach attendees.
This matter has been reviewed by Budget Manager, Grace H. Yoon, on October 31, 2019.
STATEMENT OF URGENCY:
Given that this event has already occurred, approval of this recommendation is needed to ensure a timely contribution to Jack and Jill, Inc. that they may be able to provide payments to vendors who provided services.
FISCAL IMPACT
