TITLE
Recommendation to authorize City Manager, or designee, to execute all documents necessary to amend Contract No. 33967 with Great Scott Tree Service, Inc., of Stanton, CA, to extend the term through March 31, 2020, at the current amount not to exceed $3,542,500, for tree trimming and removal services, at the discretion of the City Manager. DISCUSSION
On September 1, 2015, the City Council adopted Specifications ITB PR15-095 and awarded a contract to Great Scott Tree Service, Inc. (Great Scott), for tree trimming and removal services in parks and other Parks, Recreation, and Marine Department (Department) maintained sites. On August 16, 2016, City Council authorized an amendment to Contract No. 33697 (Contract) with Great Scott to increase the contractual authority to an annual amount not to exceed $885,500, inclusive of a 15 percent contingency, for a total four-year contract amount of $3,542,500.

City Council approval is requested to amend the Contract with Great Scott to extend the term of the contract through March 31, 2020. Additional funding authority is not being requested at this time. The Contract expired on September 22, 2019.

Extending the term of the contract will ensure continuity of routine and as-needed tree trimming and removal services for the Department. The requested action will provide adequate time for staff to complete another procurement process without an interruption to services in the interim. This amendment will also provide resources to respond to emergency tree trimming needs in parks and other Department sites.

This matter was reviewed by Deputy City Attorney Arturo D. Sanchez on September 25, 2019, Purchasing Agent Tara Yeats on September 26, 2019 and by Budget Management Officer Geraldine Alejo on September 30, 2019.

TIMING CONSIDERATIONS
City Council action is requested on October 22, 2019, to ensure that services are not interrupted.
