TITLE
Recommendation to adopt resolution designating the ballot listing of the candidates which have been duly nominated for the City’s Special Municipal Election on Tuesday, November 5, 2019. (District 1)
DISCUSSION
On July 9, 2019, the City Council adopted a resolution declaring a vacancy, calling and giving notice of the Special Municipal Election to fill the vacant seat in Council District One.
With the close of the candidate nomination period on August 9, 2019, the City Clerk is required to submit the attached resolution for adoption pursuant to City Charter Section 1907, which serves to certify the list of candidates who were duly nominated, and identify the order in which their names will appear on the official ballot.
TIMING CONSIDERATIONS
Approval of the recommended action at this time will allow the Los Angeles Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk to prepare the official ballot, sample ballot and ballot pamphlet.
FISCAL IMPACT
The Office of the City Clerk budget contains the appropriations necessary to conduct the November 5, 2019 Special Municipal Election.
