TITLE

Decrease appropriations in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department by $722.40 to offset a transfer to the City Manager Department.

DISCUSSION
In an effort to improve safety and security in alleys, the Naples Improvement Association is doing a Lightbulb Give Away program that provides lightbulbs to Naples residents for their property if their property abuts an alley. This contribution achieves a public benefit as it proactively addresses crime prevention by adding lighting to the public alleys. The Naples community has expressed significant concerns about the issue of lighting and the potential negative community impacts that come from a lack of adequate lighting. As lighting is one of the most impactful ways a community can improve safety supporting this effort would be of benefit to prevent crime through environmental design.

FISCAL IMPACT
This recommendation requests the City Manager Department to provide a contribution to the Naples Improvement Association to support a program to provide for alley lightbulbs. The total appropriation increase in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department in the amount of $722.40 is offset by a decrease of appropriation of Third Council District one-time District Priority Funds in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department.
