TITLE

Recommendation to reallocate $18,000 Sixth Council District one-time District Priority Funds currently budgeted in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department to support the Juneteenth Celebration.

DISCUSSION

On June 22, 2019, the Sixth Council District will be hosting a one-day community event, Juneteenth at Martin Luther King Jr. Park at 1950 Lemon Avenue, Long Beach from 12:00pm to 4:00pm. This event is free and open to the public and will feature live music, entertainment and food trucks. Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery in the United States and is celebrated all over the country in various forms.

This Council recommendation requests a reallocation of unused District Priority Funds that were previously approved and allocated by City Council on December 18, 2018 to support the 2019 Martin Luther King Junior Celebration.

FISCAL IMPACT

This recommendation requests the use of $18,000 of the Sixth Council District One-Time District Priority Funds to support the Juneteenth Celebration. There is sufficient appropriation already budgeted in the General Fund Group in the City Manager

SUGGESTED ACTION

Approve recommendation.

Respectfully Submitted,

DEE ANDREWS
