TITLE

Recommendation to increase appropriations in the General Fund Group in the Parks, Recreation, and Marine Department by $24,000, offset by the First Council District one-time District Priority Funds transferred from the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department to support the realignment of the fence surrounding the Jenny Oropeza Community Center amphitheater; and

Decrease appropriations in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department by $24,000 to offset a transfer to the Parks, Recreation, and Marine Department.

DISCUSSION

This Council recommendation requests a fund transfer to the Parks, Recreation, and Marine Department to realign the iron fence surrounding the amphitheater at Jenny Oropeza Community Center at Cesar Chavez Park. The proposed new fence line will enclose existing outdoor seating and benches within the amphitheater footprint to activate the space, promote use of the facilities, and provide access to picnic tables for amphitheater attendees.

This matter was reviewed by Budget Manager Grace H. Yoon on May 23, 2019.

FISCAL IMPACT

This recommendation is to transfer funds to the Parks, Recreation, and Marine Department to support a realignment of the iron fence surrounding the amphitheater at Jenny Oropeza Community Center. The total appropriation increase of $24,000 in the General Fund Group in the Parks, Recreation, and Marine Department is offset by a decrease of appropriation of First Council District one-time District Priority Funds in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department. Completing this work is anticipated to result in a minimal impact to staff hours beyond normal budgeted scope of duties and is consistent with City Council priorities.

SUGGESTED ACTION

Approve recommendation.
