TITLE
Recommendation to receive and file a presentation on the status of the Long Beach Community Choice Aggregation Feasibility Study. (Citywide)
DISCUSSION
A Community Choice Aggregation (CCA) program enables local jurisdictions to procure electricity services directly, rather than through an invested-owned utility, on behalf of customers within the borders of the established CCA. Critical to assessing whether a CCA program will make economic sense, along with meeting environmental and social objectives, a detailed and comprehensive feasibility study identifying the potential benefits and risks across multiple criterion is necessary.
On October 23, 2018, the City Council authorized contracts with MRW & Associates, LLC, GridX, Inc., and ZGlobal, Inc., to conduct a comprehensive CCA Feasibility Study (Study) for the City of Long Beach (City). The City Council also requested staff to provide a status update on the progress of the Study in approximately four months. This presentation updates the City Council on the progress of the Study.
