TITLE

Recommendation to increase appropriations in the General Fund (GF) in the Public Works Department (PW) in the amount of $13,000, offset by the Fourth Council District one-time District Priority Funds transferred from the General Fund (GF) in the Citywide Activities Department (XC) to support the installation of Driver Feedback Signs on Stearns Street; and

Decrease appropriations in the General Fund (GF) in the Citywide Activities Department (XC) to offset a transfer to the Public Works Department (PW).

DISCUSSION

With concerns around traffic safety throughout the Fourth Council District, additional signage is needed to reduce traffic speeds on the Stearns Street corridor between Bellflower Boulevard and Palo Verde Avenue. The signs will be installed on poles nearest to McNab Avenue.

This matter was reviews by Budget Manager, Grace H. Yoon, on March 26, 2019.

FISCAL IMPACT

This recommendation provides District Priority Funds to support the installation of Driver Feedback Signs on Stearns Street. The total appropriation increase of $13,000 in the General Fund (GF) in the Public Works Department (PW) will be offset by a decrease of appropriation of the Fourth Council District one-time District Priority Funds in the General Fund (GF) in the Citywide Activities Department (XC). Completing this work is anticipated to result in a minimal impact to staff hours beyond the normal budgeted scope of duties and is in line with existing City Council priorities.

SUGGESTED ACTION

Approve recommendation.

Respectfully Submitted,

DARYL SUPERNAW
