DISCUSSION
City Council approval is requested to enter into a contract with Consolidated Fabricators Corporation, for furnishing and delivering commercial trash containers of various sizes to support the Department of Public Works’ ongoing commercial and residential refuse operation.

Public Works is requesting to purchase approximately 350 bins to replace aged, deteriorating containers, and to upgrade multi-family and commercial customers from 95-gallon bins to larger two- and three-yard bins. The bid was advertised in the Long Beach Press-Telegram on July 26, 2018, and 257 potential bidders specializing in refuse bins were notified of the bid opportunity. Of those bidders, 12 downloaded the bid via the City’s electronic bid system. The bid was made available from the Purchasing Division, located on the seventh floor of City Hall, and the Division’s website at www.longbeach.gov/purchasing . A bid announcement was also included in the Purchasing Division’s weekly update of Open Bid Opportunities, which is sent to 28 local, minority, and women-owned business groups. Two bids were received on August 14, 2018. Of those two bidders, none were Minority-owned Business Enterprises (MBEs), Women-owned Business Enterprises (WBEs), certified Small Business Enterprises (SBEs), or Long Beach Businesses (Local).
