TITLE

Recommendation to authorize City Manager, or designee, to execute an agreement, and any subsequent amendments, with the Housing Authority of the County of Los Angeles to permit usage of community space at the Carmelitos Housing Development, at no cost to the City, commencing upon full execution of the agreement through June 30, 2020.  (District 8)

 

DISCUSSION

City Council approval is requested to enter into an agreement with the Housing Authority at the County of Los Angeles (Housing Authority) to permit usage of the community space at the Carmelitos Housing Development. This agreement will establish the purpose, permitted uses, and responsibilities between the Housing Authority and the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) when utilizing this space. By entering into this agreement, LBPD will be permitted with 24/7 access to the community space at this location for community policing program services supplied to the Carmelitos Housing Development and its residents.

 

This matter was reviewed by Deputy City Attorney Monica J. Kilaita on November 6, 2018, and by Budget Management Officer Rhutu Amin Gharib on November 6, 2018.

 

TIMING CONSIDERATIONS

City Council action is requested on December 4, 2018, to ensure the contract is in place expeditiously.

 

FISCAL IMPACT

There is no fiscal or local job impact associated with this recommendation.
