DISCUSSION
City Council approval is requested to enter into a contract with Ocean Blue Environmental Services, Inc., for as-needed hazardous waste removal services to comply with health and safety regulations, in accordance with pertinent federal, state, county, and local laws. The contract terms will specify that the contractor shall be available 24-hours a day, seven-days a week, and respond to emergencies and arrive on scene within 30 minutes upon receipt of a call for an emergency order. Departments participating in this contract include the Long Beach Airport, Fire, Financial Management, Energy Resources, Health and Human Services, Library Services, Parks, Recreation and Marine, Police, Public Works, and Water.

The bid was advertised in the Long Beach Press-Telegram on July 11, 2018, and 2,399 potential bidders specializing in hazardous material and waste services were notified of the bid opportunity. Of those bidders, 31 downloaded the bid via the City’s electronic bid system. The bid document was made available from the Purchasing Division, located on the seventh floor of City Hall, and the Division’s website at www.longbeach.gov/purchasing.
