DISCUSSION

Former Long Beach police officer Jacqueline Burke alleges that she was discriminated based on her race, and was retaliated against because of her use of leave protected by the California Family Rights Act (CFRA) and the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA). The department denies any wrongdoing.

 

The settlement was discussed in closed session, and approved by the Economic Development and Finance Committee on August 21, 2018.
