DISCUSSION
On March 24, 2015, the City Council authorized the City Manager to execute Contract No. 33801 with Califa Group, for the Purchasing, furnishing and delivering of high-speed data communication services for the Library Services Department, in an annual contract amount not to exceed $252,000, for a period of three years with the option to renew for two additional years. The partnership with Califa Group was established to enhance the patron and staff computing experience at all library locations and to increase bandwidth to support future needs and activities.

On June 14, 2016, the City Council approved an amendment to Contract No. 33801 reducing the scope of services and decreasing the contract amount from $252,000 to $202,000.

City Council approval is now requested to amend the City’s contract with Califa Group to install a high-speed connection (circuit) for the link at Bret Harte Library. The high-speed circuit for this library branch is not available via the City’s local area network. The total not to exceed amount of $252,000 provides flexibility for future amendments, yet still stays within the original amount approved by theCity Council.

This matter was reviewed by Deputy City Attorney Amy R. Webber on March 26, 2018 and by Budget Management Officer Rhutu Amin Gharib on March 29, 2018.
