Economic Development Commission Appointment

Leah Goold-Haws (CD 2) - Interim Term through June 2020 (to fill vacancy left by Lincoln Bauer's resignation)

Leah Goold-Haws is the Deputy Sector Navigator of Global Trade & Logistics at Long Beach City College, where she manages the Center for International Trade Development and designs programming to support small business engagement with foreign markets. An entrepreneurial leader, Leah has founded a number of companies and worked with clients in both private industry and the public sector.

Homeless Services Advisory Committee Appointments

 

Julie Lie (CD 3) - At-Large seat - Interim Term through June 2018

 

Julie Lie is a third district resident committed to helping community members who are experiencing homelessness. She is currently on the Board of Urban Community Outreach (UCO), which serves the homeless every weekend in downtown Long Beach. Before working with UCO, Julie was an active member on the LA County Homeless Initiative Team, where she helped plan the County's Interfaith Homelessness Summit.

 

Sandy Giraldo (CD 7) - CD 7 seat - Interim Term through June 2018 (to fill vacancy left by Eric Tandoc's resignation)

 

Born and raised in Long Beach, Sandy Giraldo received a Master of Public Administration and a B.S. in Criminal Justice from Long Beach State University. Sandy has worked as a case manager and public safety dispatcher, gaining an understanding of how to address the

needs of individuals and families experiencing homelessness. She would like to continue this work in support of the City's efforts to alleviate homelessness.

 

Human Relations Commission Appointment

 

Jennifer Chheang (CD 8) - CD 8 seat - Interim Term through June 2018 (to fill vacancy left by Desmond Fletcher's transfer to the Citizen Police Complaint Commission)

 

Jennifer Chheang has been a Long Beach resident her entire life and has a passion for serving the community. She has a deep connection to Cambodia Town residents, working for six years at the Cambodian Association of America advocating for the rights of Cambodian refugees. For the past six years, she has supported Building Healthy Communities and its partners through the California Endowment.

Sustainable City Commission Appointment

 

Rey Gonzales (CD 7) - CD 7 seat - Interim Term through June 2018

 

Rey Gonzales, a CD 7 resident, currently works as an Environmental Project Manager for Southern California Edison, where he helps ensure the sustainability of various capital and infrastructure projects. Rey has a Master of Public Administration and a B.S. in Urban and Regional Planning. He previously served as a Planning Commissioner for the City of Pi co Rivera and has been a City Planner in Ontario and Corona.

 

Technology & Innovation Commission Appointment

 

Justin Hectus (CD 3) - Interim Term through June 2018

 

Justin Hectus has been a resident of Long Beach for 25 years and has been involved in the community as a volunteer and business owner. As the Chief Information Officer and Chief Information Security Officer of Keesal, Young & Logan, Justin develops the firm's strategic technology vision and leads initiatives focused on managing risks for the firm and its clients. Justin plays an active role in the firm's cyber risk management practice, where he advises clients and industry groups on the changing technology ecosystem.

 

Vector Control District Board of Trustees Appointment

 

Emily Holman (CD 4) (to fill vacancy left by Robert Campbell's resignation)

An epidemiologist by training, Emily Holman has over a decade of experience working in public health and has direct professional and personal interests in vector control in Long Beach. As a representative of the public health community, Emily has extensive background knowledge about vector-borne diseases. In her role with the City of Long Beach, as the Emerging Infectious Disease Response Coordinator, she has led the Department of Health & Human Services' Zika education and prevention efforts.
