TITLE

Recommendation to receive and file a report from the International City Theatre in recognition of National Arts Month.

DISCUSSION

International City Theatre (ICT) continues to hold true to its mission after 31 years - to entertain, educate, inspire, provoke thoughtful dialogue through live theatre. ICT performs a five-play season and runs six community and educational outreach programs. Amongst the many accolades received by ICT and in addition to the over 350 prestigious awards received for professional theatre, The Long Beach City Council officially and unanimously recognized ICT as the resident professional theatre of the City. And, this year they ICT has received nearly 40 awards from The Stage Scene LA Awards.

Stage Scene LA is a news source, created in 2007, edited by Steven Stanley - one of Los Angeles' most prolific theater reviewers. Stanley reviews about 250 productions a year which is an average of 5 productions a week, all in Southern California. These productions include straight plays and musicals. Every year Stage Scene LA releases its 'Best of' list. This year International City Theatre is on the list for Best Large Theater, and many others.
