TITLE

Recommendation to approve the proposed settlement in the pending litigation entitled Kristy Powell v City of Long Beach,

Case No.: 2:16-CV-02966-GHK(SKx) in the amount of $85,000.

DISCUSSION

This lawsuit involves an alleged violation of the Religious Land Use and Institutionalized Person Act (RLUIPA), 42 U.S.C. § 2000cc(b) arising when Powell was briefly incarcerated in a Long Beach jail on May 15, 2017. The case was submitted to the Economic Development and Finance Committee on July 18, 2017, and following discussion, approved thereat.
