TITLE

Recommendation to authorize City Attorney to submit claim for death benefits for approval by the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board, and if so approved, authority to pay $96,967.50 in compliance with the Appeals Board Order for decedent, Owen Walls.

DISCUSSION

Owen Walls, by and through his widow, Glenda Walls, has made a claim for  death benefits allegedly caused by his employment with the City of Long Beach.  The Economic Development and Finance Committee on June 20, 2017, approved the submission to the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board of Compromise and Release for death benefits by the City and Owen Walls on behalf of his widow.

SUGGESTED ACTION

Approve recommendation.
