TITLE

Recommendation to authorize City Attorney to submit Compromise and Release for approval by the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board, and if so approved, authority to pay $75,000 for the claim of Zachary Harmon; and authority to pay 1) $52,200 and also 2) separate authority to pay $6,957.50 for the claim of Jason Wight, in compliance with the Appeals Board Orders.

 

DISCUSSION

Zachary Harmon has made a claim for injuries allegedly sustained in the course of his employment with the City of Long Beach. The Economic Development and Finance Committee on March 21, 2017, approved the submission to the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board of Compromise and Release by the City and Zachary Harmon in the amount of $75,000.00.

 

Jason Wight has made a claim for injuries allegedly sustained in the course of his employment with the City of Long Beach. The Economic Development and Finance Committee on March 21, 2017, approved the submission to the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board of two Stipulations with Request for Award by the City and Jason Wight, based upon 1) a 37 percent disability rating, with provision for lifetime medical care as may be necessary, and 2) a 10 percent disability rating, with provision for lifetime medical care as may be necessary.

 

SUGGESTED ACTION

Approve recommendation.
