Zoe Nicholson

 

Zoe is a long-time writer, researcher, and published author. She is a member of Clergy & Laity United for Economic, Justice, and Convener and President of Pacific Shore NOW. Zoe holds a Master's Degree in Social Ethics from USC. Currently on the Senior Citizens Advisory Commission, Zoe would like to be moved to the Human Relations Commission, where her expertise is best suited.

Gio Ferraro

 

Gio has long been involved in the Long Beach community, working alongside Back on My Feet, Mental Health America, the Multi-Service Center, Beacon for Him, and the Villages of Cabrillo. Gio is Chair of the DLBA Public Safety Committee and volunteers extensively to provide services for the homeless in Long Beach.

A long-time resident of Long Beach and a graduate of both LBCC and CSU Long Beach, Ethel has actively promoted the growth and development of the city's arts and youth population through her involvement in general education programs. She would like to continue serving her community as a board member.

 

Citizens' Advisory Commission on Disabilities

New Appointment

 

Jessica Marquez

 

As an individual with a visual impairment, Jessica has learned how to empower not only herself but her community in order to address the difficulties faced by disabled people. Jessica teaches Communication Studies courses at CSULB, focusing on disability studies and societal misconceptions of people with hidden disabilities, and her research examines the history of policymaking for people with disabilities. She hopes to employ her knowledge and experience to improve the lives of others in Long Beach.

 

Long Beach Transportation Company Board of Directors

Michael Clemson

 

Michael has a passion for transportation. He is an avid cyclist and Long Beach Transit rider, and he believes that one of the critical things that makes a city great is having diverse transit options, including public and active transportation. In his role as the Energy Program Manager for the CSU Office of the Chancellor, Michael works directly to promote energy efficiency and sustainability. He is dedicated to minimizing our carbon footprint and is excited to bring his expertise to the board.

 

Senior Citizen Advisory Commission

New Appointment

 

Jo Prabhu

 

As a senior living in the Long Beach community, Jo has fought to improve the lives of other seniors. She helped conduct studies and collaborate with the Department of Transportation and Street Management to extend the time needed to cross streets as seniors and people with disabilities. She would like to become more involved with improving the transportation services available throughout the city for disabled seniors.

 

Veterans Affairs Commission

Gustavo Orozco

 

Gustavo is an ambitious, hard-working student at CSULB in the Geography and Environmental Science & Policy department. After serving in the Army, Gustavo has become involved in several Veterans organizations in the Long Beach area, including the Long Beach Veterans Day Committee, U.S. Vets Long Beach, Veterans Resource Center at LBCC, and the SV A Chapter of CSULB.
