TITLE

Recommendation to declare ordinance amending the Long Beach Municipal Code by repealing Chapter 2.66, relating to the Long Beach Redevelopment Agency, read and adopted as read.  (Citywide)

DISCUSSION

The proposed action would remove the section of the Long Beach Municipal Code pertaining to the creation of the former Redevelopment Agency of the City of Long Beach and the appointment, replacement, and vacation of its membership. This action is consistent with State law, which on February 1, 2012, dissolved redevelopment agencies Statewide pursuant to AB1x26.

This matter was reviewed by Deputy City Attorney Richard F. Anthony on January 9, 2017 and by Budget Analysis Officer Julissa Jose-Murray on January 13, 2017.

TIMING CONSIDERATIONS

City Council action on this matter is not time critical.

FISCAL IMPACT

There is no fiscal or local job impact associated with this recommendation.

SUGGESTED ACTION

Approve recommendation.
