DISCUSSION
City Council approval is requested to enter into contracts with six consultants selected for the delivery of construction materials testing and inspection on an as-needed basis. The City has typically contracted for as-needed construction materials testing and inspection services with firms that have specialized expertise beyond existing City staff. The requested contracts are based on current and anticipated projects within the Departments of Public Works, Development Services, Airport, Long Beach Gas and Oil, Parks, Recreation and Marine and Water.

The Request for Qualifications (RFQ) was advertised in the Long Beach Press-Telegram on June 24, 2016, and 7,433 potential firms specializing in engineering services were notified of the RFQ opportunity. Of those firms, 98 downloaded the RFQ via the City’s electronic bid system. The RFQ document was made available from the Purchasing Division, located on the seventh floor of City Hall, and the Division’s website at www.longbeach.gov/purchasing.
