TITLE

Recommendation to use City Prosecutor Department (CP) budget savings from FY 16, increase appropriations in the General Grants Fund (SR 120) in the City Prosecutor Department (CP) by $76,932 and in the General Fund (GP) in the City Prosecutor Department (CP) by $76,732 for the transfer of funds.

DISCUSSION

At the end of FY 16, the City Prosecutor Department's General Fund budget had savings of over $76,932. It is requested that these savings be re-appropriated to the General Grants Fund and used to support the City Prosecutor's Promising Adults, Tomorrow's Hope (PAT.H.) program as well as other City Prosecutor diversion, prevention and rehabilitation initiatives. This is similar to action taken last year by the City Council.

TIMING CONSIDERATIONS

City Council action is requested on December 6, 2016 to guarantee availability of funds to spend on the indicated purpose.

FISCAL IMPACT

An appropriation increase in the General Grants Fund (SR 120) in the City Prosecutor Department (CP) by $76,932 is being requested, as well as an appropriation increase in the General Fund (GP) in the City Prosecutor Department (CP) by $76,932 for the transfer of funds from the General Fund to the General Grants Fund. There is sufficient fund balance in the General Fund from the City Prosecutor Department's FY 16 budget savings to support the increased appropriations requests.  There will be no impact to the General Grants Fund since its appropriation increase will be fully offset by the transfer from the General Fund.

SUGGESTED ACTION

Approve recommendation.

Respectfully Submitted,
