TITLE

DISCUSSION
On January 19, 2016, the City Council awarded a contract to Jacobs Engineering Group, Inc. (Jacobs), in an amount not-to-exceed $349,845, to conduct the work necessary for a report to determine the feasibility, financial or otherwise, of a Federal Inspection Service facility (FIS Study) at the Long Beach Airport. The components of the FIS Study included market analysis, airport scope and capacity, financial feasibility, economic impact, assessment of environmental impact, and security risk assessment. Additionally, the scope of work included two community meetings, held in March and April 2016, to allow Jacobs to receive public input for the FIS Study. Contract No. 34204 was executed on March 7, 2016, and expired on September 30, 2016.

On August 9, 2016, the City Council approved a request to make the FIS Study publicly available on relevant City websites at least 15 days before any scheduled City Council action relative to the FIS Study. The request also included providing sufficient time before the scheduled City Council meeting to conduct community meetings for the purpose of receiving public input on the FIS Study. These community meetings are tentatively scheduled at the Airport Advisory Commission on October 20, 2016, and the Economic Development Commission on October 25, 2016.
