DISCUSSION
City Council approval is requested to enter into a contract with Greentech Landscape, Inc. (Greentech), for grounds and landscape maintenance services for the Queensway Bay area. This contract is used by the Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine. Given the high concentration of tourists and conventioneers in the area, the City of Long Beach (City) has identified Queensway Bay as requiring a higher level of grounds and landscape services, similar to a theme park site. This recommendation will ensure that the service level and high quality landscaping continues in the Queensway Bay area in the manner expected by local businesses, visitors and conventioneers.

In an effort to control costs, new specifications were developed that identify a more accurate depiction of the services required for the upkeep and maintenance of the Queensway Bay area. The new contract illustrates the upgraded routine grounds and landscape maintenance services that are to be performed, contractor performance accountabilities, and the supplemental tasks to be completed on an as-needed basis. The supplemental tasks include future site development, plant installation and establishment, turf renovation, and special event preparation and repairs.
