TITLE
Recommendation to respectfully request that City Council receive and file the report concerning the Fifth Council District Library Round-Up.

DISCUSSION
Last year, we launched a program to assist the two branch libraries in the Fifth Council District: The Library Round-up. This program encourages residents, schools, PT A's and businesses to "round-up" their spare change during the month of April (National Library Month) and May to help the two branch libraries (Ruth Bach and EI Dorado) purchase additional materials.

Coin boxes were distributed to local areas business and schools. Participation in this the Second Annual Library Round-Up increased and we were able to "round-up" $1500.

This year a number of community businesses and organizations participated in the ''Round-Up'': Signal Hill Petroleum, Go Dogs Go, Tracy's Bar and Grill, Zahn and Zahn, Postal Annex, Farmers Insurance, Once Read Books, I Sold It On Ebay, Whatta Lotta Pizza, Fast Frame, EI Dorado Restaurant, EI Dorado Golf Course Restaurant, The Bagelry, Laurelcrest School for Girls, The Paw Shoppe, Grounds Bakery and Cafe, Park Florist, Ruth Bach Library, EI Dorado Library, Boeing Corporation, and the City of Long Beach - Legislative Department.

The funds are being given to the Friends of the Long Beach Public Library for their dispersal to the two Fifth Council District branches.
