TITLE
Recommendation to authorize City Manager to execute any and all documents necessary for a Supplemental Agreement to Management Agreement No. 21667 with SMG, a Pennsylvania joint venture, for the completion of certain capital improvement projects for the Seaside Way Pedestrian Bridge and Connections at the Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center located at 300 East Ocean Boulevard. (District 2)

DISCUSSION
On December 2, 2013, the State Lands Commission approved proposed expenditures for projects throughout the Tidelands areas of Long Beach. The State Lands Commission approval included HVAC, lobby area, restroom, entryway, food services, video systems and lighting improvement projects at the Center. On June 16, 2015, the City Council approved the prioritization of the Tidelands Capital Improvement Projects and allocated $10,315,000 from Tidelands oil revenue for the Seaside Way Pedestrian Bridge and Connections at the Center, which included the following high priority capital project:

Seaside Way Lighting & Connector Project (approximately $300,000):

Of the total approved allocation, $300,000 is dedicated for this improved connection between the proposed bridge and Seaside Way. This lighting enhancement project will provide lighting and visual improvements on Seaside Way between Hart and Collins Avenues directly below the Terrace Theater Plaza. The project will include important safety improvements as well as delineating the area as a new streetscape and special event location. The area outside the Seaside meeting rooms will have the ability to be activated as additional rentable event space for outdoor performances, vending/exhibit space, and table setup. This project is a separate component of the Seaside Way Pedestrian Bridge Project, and will be managed by SMG.
