DISCUSSION
City Council approval is requested to authorize the City Manager to execute an amendment to Contract No. 32775 with Los Cerritos Wetlands Stewardship, Inc. (LCW Stewardship), for the maintenance and management of a variety of environmentally sensitive areas and environmental tasks, including interpretive education of volunteer groups in areas controlled by the Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine (PRM).

On June 19, 2012, the City Council awarded a contract to LCW Stewardship in an annual amount not to exceed $297,000, with the option to renew for two additional one-year periods. The contract with LCW Stewardship was scheduled to expire on June 30, 2015, with no remaining renewal options.

On June 23, 2015, the City Council authorized a six-month extension of Contract No. 32775 in order to allow PRM to conduct a new Request for Proposal (RFP) process. In conducting its due diligence to write the RFP, PRM’s Marine Bureau refined the scope of the contract by working with its partner City departments. Contract requirements were refined within Rainbow Harbor and Colorado Lagoon, two extremely important and high profile environmentally sensitive areas that will be added to the eventual new contract. As a result of refining the RFP specifications, the RFP process could not be completed in the timeline originally requested. The deadline for submitting bids has passed and evaluation of the RFP respondents will take place in December 2015.
