Recommendation to receive and file a presentation on the 2nd Annual Long Beach/Stepping in the Right Direction College Fair to be held on Saturday, November 14 at the Long Beach Convention Center's Seaside Room.
DISCUSSION
On Saturday, November 14, from 1 :00 to 5:00 p.m., the Second Annual Long Beach/Stepping In the Right Direction Black College Fair will take place.
Representatives from more than 55 Historically Black Colleges and Universities from across the nation will be present, as well as California State University, Long Beach and Long Beach City College.
Last year, more than 1,000 high school students and their families attended the first event, coming from as far as San Diego and Santa Barbara, as well as all of Long Beach's high schools.
The event also features workshops for students on such topics as financial aid and scholarships, and career selection.
Partners for the event include Pacific Gateway Workforce Investment Network, the Port of Long Beach and McDonald's.
This college fair is a great opportunity to connect local students with college opportunities that they may not previously have been aware of and learn about some outstanding institutions of higher education throughout the nation.
