DISCUSSION
The street infrastructure on Studebaker Road, between Spring Street and Wardlow Road, is in need of rehabilitation. The rehabilitation work consists of removal and replacement of damaged concrete curbs and gutters, driveway aprons, alley entrances and sidewalks; trimming and root shaving trees; reconstructing areas of deteriorated pavement; cold milling and resurfacing the existing asphalt concrete pavement using the environmentally friendly Cold-in-Place Recycling method; placement of Asphalt Rubber Hot Mix surface course; adjust utility covers and lids; and installing pavement markers, markings, traffic striping, signing and curb paint. The bid was advertised in the Press-Telegram on August 14, 2015 and 3,597 potential bidders specializing in construction were notified of the bid opportunity. Of those bidders, 77 downloaded the bid via our electronic bid system. The bid document was made available from the Purchasing Division, located on the seventh floor of City Hall, and the Division’s website at www.longbeach.gov/purchasing . A bid announcement was also included in the Purchasing Division’s weekly update of Open Bid Opportunities, which is sent to 22 business groups that represent local, minority and women-owned businesses.
