TITLE
Recommendation to adopt minute order to grant an application from Lupe E. Castillo for a widow's pension.

DISCUSSION
We are in receipt of an application from Lupe E. Castillo for a widow's pension. Albert Bruno Castillo, who died on or about the 8th day of August, 2008, was a retired Police Officer in the Long Beach Police Department, having retired from active duty on July 1, 1991. Mrs. Castillo has filed an application for a widow's pension under the provisions of Subsection (4) of Section 187 of the Charter of the City of Long Beach prior to its repeal.

We are of the opinion that Lupe E. Castillo is entitled to a widow's pension. We are transmitting herewith the declaration of Lupe E. Castillo and a form of minute order to be adopted by your honorable body granting Mrs. Castillo a widow's pension effective August 9,2008.

SUGGESTED ACTION
Approve recommendation.

Respectfully Submitted,

ROBERT E. SHANNON, City Attorney
