TITLE
Recommendation to receive supporting documentation into the record, conclude the public hearing, find that the area to be vacated is not needed for present or prospective public use, and adopt resolution ordering the vacation of a portion of the west side of Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue, south of 6th Street.  (District 1)

DISCUSSION
The current request is for the City of Long Beach to vacate a portion of the west side of Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue, south of 6th Street, as depicted in Exhibit A, to allow for the construction of Alamitos Park.  Consistent with California land reversion practices, the vacated portion of Alamitos Avenue will revert back to the original property owners.

On February 3, 2015, the City Council adopted Resolution No. RES-15-0009, declaring its intention to vacate the subject right-of-way, and set March 3, 2015, as the date for the public hearing.  A copy of the February 3, 2015, City Council letter is attached as Exhibit B.

This matter was reviewed and approved by Deputy City Attorney Linda Vu on January 22, 2015 and by Budget Management Officer Victoria Bell on February 12, 2015.
