TITLE
Recommendation to adopt resolution requesting the Board of Supervisors of the County of Los Angeles to authorize and order the consolidation of a Citywide Special Municipal Election with the Statewide General Election to be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2008, and determining and declaring that the City will pay to the County reasonable and actual expenses incurred by the County on account of the consolidation of this election; and
DISCUSSION
On July 22,2008, the City Council adopted resolutions calling for a Special Municipal Election on November 4,2008, for electors to vote on two propositions respectively titled: "Long Beach Utility Users Tax Modernization Measure" and the "Long Beach Infrastructure Reinvestment Act",
TIMING CONSIDERATIONS
In order for the foregoing measures to appear on Los Angeles County's Statewide ballot, the attached resolutions must be adopted by the statutory deadline of August 8, 2008.
FISCAL IMPACT
The estimated cost to consolidate the foregoing measures on the Statewide General Election ballot $428,000 (see attached cost estimate).

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LONG BEACH REQUESTING THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES TO AUTHORIZE AND ORDER THE CONSOLIDATION OF A CITYWIDE SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION WITH THE STATEWIDE GENERAL ELECTION TO BE HELD NOVEMBER 4,2008, AND DETERMINING AND DECLARING THAT THE CITY WILL PAY TO THE COUNTY REASONABLE AND ACTUAL EXPENSES INCURRED BY THE COUNTY ON ACCOUNT OF THE CONSOLIDATION OF THIS ELECTION
