DISCUSSION
City Council approval is requested to enter into a contract with Palp, Inc., dba Excel Paving Company, for street improvements. The street infrastructure on Pacific Avenue, between Anaheim Street and Pacific Coast Highway, is in need of rehabilitation. The rehabilitation work consists of replacing damaged curbs and gutters, driveways, trimming and root-shaving trees; alley entrances and sidewalks; reconstructing areas of deteriorated pavement; cold milling and resurfacing the pavement; and installing pavement markers, markings, traffic striping, signing and curb paint. The bid was advertised in the Press-Telegram on August 16, 2014 and 3,100 potential bidders specializing in street rehabilitation were notified of the bid opportunity. Of those potential bidders, 85 downloaded the bid via our electronic bid system. The bid document was made available from the Purchasing Division, located on the seventh floor of City Hall, and the Division's website at www.longbeach.gov/purchasing.
