TITLE
Recommendation to approve proclamation honoring Drew Satariano upon being named "Outstanding Park and Recreation Commission Board Member" by the California Association of Parks and Recreation Commissioners and Board Members (CAPRCBM).
DISCUSSION
On February 29, 2008, Drew Satariano, Vice President of the City of Long Beach Parks and Recreation Commission received the Outstanding Park and Recreation Commission Board Member Award from the California Association of Parks and Recreation Commissioners and Board Members (CAPRCBM).
Mr. Satariano has served as a Long Beach Parks and Recreation Commissioner since 2002. As Commission Vice President, Mr. Satariano reviews the progress of planned projects, provides input to the Director of Parks, Recreation and Marine on land acquisition and budget priorities, and oversees progress in the Department's Strategic plan. He has also served on Commission committees for Capital Improvements, Special Events and Recreation, Finance and Appeals and Equal Employment and Customer Satisfaction. CAPRCBM also found his extensive work with Long Beach Sea Festival noteworthy amongst his many community involvements.
Mr. Satariano also helped establish the Baseball Hall of Fame at Recreation Park's Blair Field, and the Softball Hall of Fame at Joe Rodgers Softball Field. He recruited committees for each sport to choose the first class of 31 who were honored inaugurated on May 8, 2004.
In r~ognition of this award and his extensive service to the City of Long Beach thfOugh the Parks and Recreation Commission, it is appropriate that the City honor Drew Satariano.
