TITLE
Recommendation to authorize City Attorney to pay the sum of $10,000 in full settlement of lawsuit entitled Aguiar v. City of Long Beach, Case No. NC038731.
DISCUSSION
This suit arises out of an incident involving four Long Beach police officers. During the course of a follow-up investigation to an earlier traffic stop involving the plaintiff's son, the officers used force to secure the plaintiff in his home.
During a Mandatory Settlement Conference held in the judge's chambers on the first day of trial, the parties were able to reach a tentative settlement agreement of $10,000.00, subject to City Council approval.
The Economic Development and Finance Committee approved the proposed settlement on March 4, 2008.
