Recommendation to receive and file report on attendance at the Independent Cities Association Seminar from February 8 - 10, 2008, in Santa Barbara, CA.
DISCUSSION
As a City representative and Board Member of the Independent Cities Association (I CA) , I attended the "What's Lighting Up Your City: Challenges and Tools for the Independent Cities Association" seminar from February 8th through 10th in Santa Barbara, CA. Highlights of the seminar included discussions of law enforcement technology. It was a valuable experience and an excellent opportunity to discuss vital issues, particularly public safety, with representatives of other cities.
The ICA was established in 1961 by several cities that provide their own police and/or fire services, also known as full-service cities. Members of the ICA include the cities of Downey, Culver City, Redondo Beach, El Segundo, Signal Hill and Palm Springs.
