TITLE
Recommendation to request City Attorney to prepare an ordinance that would specify that such funds generated as a result of Proposition H shall be:

DISCUSSION
The voters of Long Beach approved Proposition H ("Public Safety Oil Production Tax") which increases the per barrel oil assessment on crude oil produced in Long Beach from .15 cents per barrel to .40 cents per barrel with such funds being utilized for public safety.
 
Proposition H did not specify in what amounts these new funds would be apportioned to the Police and Fire Departments respectively, nor whether or not such new funds would supplement or replace funding annually appropriated for these departments.
