TITLE
Recommendation to authorize City Attorney to pay the sum of $19,500 in full settlement of lawsuit entitled Loya v. City of Long Beach, Case No. NC038005.
DISCUSSION
This suit arises out of a motor vehicle accident during which the plaintiff was rear-ended by a truck being driven by a City of Long Beach employee, in the course and scope of his employment with the City.
During a mandatory settlement conference, held before a Judge of the Superior Court, a tentative settlement of $19,500.00 was reached, subject to City Council approval.
The Economic Development and Finance Committee approved the proposed settlement on February 20,2007.
